The Loop Issue Twenty-Five
Letter from the Editor
As the Summit approaches, we’re embracing all the inspo and innovation from the fashion world as of late. Between the stunning looks that walked the Oscars red carpet (my personal favorite was Miley Cyrus’s Alexander McQueen halter gown styled with bleached eyebrows), and Givenchy’s ready-to-wear collection with their newest creative director–I’m already getting ideas for my TNLP and Summit outfits. Pondering a reimagined suit or a fairy-like drop waist dress, only time will tell.
The onset of spring is bringing both excitement on campus and a shift in my closet staples. As I looked at the weather app to see the temperatures rise, I immediately reached for my linen pants, retiring my long puffer coat. The one thing that would truly complete my outfit is a dreamy necklace by Rikyyah Sorelle–our style spotlight for this week. Beyond that, campus is bustling with exciting upcoming events: both the Summit and the MMBC Conference are happening at the end of this month.
For the last Loop edition before the Summit, the MFMS wants to remind you to keep embracing personal expression and pushing the boundaries of creativity in fashion. Tickets are going fast, so be sure to secure them while you can. We hope to see you on March 28th!
With Love,
IN THE NEWS:
Best Looks from the Oscars
The 97th annual Academy Awards on March 2nd was not short of major fashion moments. Carey Mulligan stunned in a vintage-inspired black and white Balenciaga gown, while Lily Gladstone wore a custom Gucci with Indigenous quillwork. Rihanna’s maternity look in Alaïa, Lupita Nyong’o’s sky-blue Prada archival dress, and Nicole Kidman’s vintage Balenciaga halter dress were also standout moments.
Highlights from NYFW
The final days of Paris Fashion Week were nothing short of spectacular. Alessandro Michele’s Autumn/Winter 2025 Valentino collection debuted on March 9th, following mixed reviews by critics of his couture. Loewe’s Jonathon Anderson is moving to Dior, and Louis Vuitton just announced a beauty line with Pat McGrath. With Miu Miu’s recent executive changes signaling a shift in strategy, their new collection embodied an elevated version of the brand's portrayal of femininity. Big post-fashion week news could include designer moves at Fendi, Gucci, and Jil Sander, plus a rumored Prada-Versace deal.
Louis Vuitton enters the beauty space
Louis Vuitton is launching its first makeup collection, La Beauté Louis Vuitton, in fall 2025 with Pat McGrath as creative director. The initial lineup includes 55 lipsticks, 10 lip balms, and 8 shadow palettes. McGrath, who has done makeup for the Louis Vuitton runway for 20 years, promises “exquisite formulas” and luxury craftsmanship.
Sarah Burton debuted her first collection for Givenchy at Paris Fashion Week

In her debut show as creative director for Givenchy, Sarah Burton captivated viewers with her contemporary vision of femininity by sophistically incorporating androgynous elements throughout her collection. Inspired by archival silhouettes from Hubert de Givenchy’s 1952 show, the collection featured structured suits, ruffled hemlines, and cocoon-like shoulders. The critically acclaimed designer aimed to highlight strength and vulnerability, using body-diverse models to reflect modern femininity.
TREND WATCH: The Heeled Loafer
After seeing Bella Hadid arrive at Paris Fashion Week in heeled loafers…we were instantly obsessed. We predict that this timeless twist will dethrone the classic style, and we have about 5 pairs sitting in our online shopping carts right now. With a blend of gold hardware, sleek leather, and a kitten toe heel, the shoe is the perfect corporate-to-going-out transition piece you didn’t know you needed.

With spring just around the corner, we found the perfect accessory for you: ethereal, beaded flower necklaces that remind us of the magic of life’s little details. This small, female-owned business is run by Rikyyah, who handcrafts each piece in her cozy workspace. “Sorelle” means sisters in Italian–reflecting how the jewelry embraces the vibes of playing dress up with your sisters or best friends. The brand focuses on embracing feminine energy, reconnecting with your inner child, and bringing color back into an increasingly dull world. Her next drop is coming April 1st, so be sure to keep updated with her Etsy shop and TikTok so you don’t miss out.
