Zendaya sported a floor-length Louis Vuitton gown–a nod to old Hollywood glamour. However, the most eye-catching aspect of her look had to be a 5-carat diamond ring, confirming her engagement to actor Tom Holland!

Y2K fans… are you ready? The MadHappy x Juicy Couture Collaboration launched on January 9th, 2025, featuring a 15-piece collection of staples from sweatpants and sweatshirts to baby tees. The campaign starred Olivia Jade, marking a comeback of sorts following her involvement in the 2019 college admissions scandal. Now, Jade is falling back into favor amongst fashion brands seeking big names to promote their products. Maybe a velour tracksuit is all the fuel needed to propel one back into stardom!

New Balance’s $10B plan

After sales reached $6.5B in 2023, a whopping 23% increase from the previous year, New Balance CEO Joe Preston plans to surpass $10B in sales in the next few years. His plan: not changing a thing. Compared to sportswear giants such as Nike and Adidas, alongside rising brands such as Hoka, New Balance remains relatively quiet within fashion news. Preston plans to focus on what is working: preventing saturation of styles, maintaining close relationships with wholesale partners, and retaining a picky approach to selecting brand ambassadors.

WHEN:

Fragrance Boom is predicted to sustain through 2025

Amidst a general beauty sales downturn, fragrance, the smallest category in beauty, was 2024’s fastest-growing. Gen Z is responsible for this boom, building up perfume collections and promoting layering multiple scents at once. To sustain this growth, fragrance brands must continuously innovate their marketing strategies–whether it be through eye-catching packaging or entertaining avenues of reaching customers.

MFMS’s trend predictions for 2025

With the start of the New Year, trends are fluctuating in and out. The MFMS predicts that trench coats truly make their revival. This will be paired with ballet flats, another major IN for the new year. With these classic fashion pieces, accessories will be prominent to jazz up simple outfits. Funky glasses such as the Miu Miu runway glasses will be a staple accessory, along with chunky bangle bracelets and necklaces.

What the impending TikTok ban could mean for fashion

The potential for a TikTok ban could propose complex issues for the fashion landscape. The platform has become a leading marketing tool for popular brands to showcase their products through influencer collaborations. Now, many brands even use TikTok as a means to sell their products. Banning TikTok will not only restrict the current marketing initiatives brands heavily rely on, but will result in a loss of sales fueled by the TikTok shop. In addition, large-scale fashion content creators fueling trend development will lose their platform to influence, restricting future trend circulation.
