WHO:

The late Queen Elizabeth II

It was announced this month that England’s longest reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth, passed away at age 96. While she was most known as being, well, England’s Queen, she was also a fashion icon in her own right. Here are some notable moments of her style:

Serena Williams’s —and her daughter’s— Fashion Callbacks

During Serena’s historic matches during the 2022 U.S. Open, her and her five-year-old daughter were clothed in similarly sparkling tennis dresses. While the dresses were designed with the help of Serene herself, they were said to serve as a metaphor for the night’s sky. What may be even more symbolic than that was her daughter’s hair, braided with white beads to match her own mother’s hair from her first U.S. Open Tournament in 1999.

Kim Kardashian x Nadia Lee Cohen

Kim Kardashian has recently been experimenting with some experimental photoshoots, mainly for her new SKIMS swimwear collection and her cover on Interview Magazine. While Kim’s beautiful modeling is definitely a piece in what makes these photos so exciting, it seems as though her work with photographer and artist Nadia Lee Cohen is behind these heavily stylized aesthetics. With the understanding that much of Cohen’s work surrounds themes of pop culture, consumerism, and nostalgia, it’s clear that she and Kardashian are a match made in heaven.

WHAT:

Fendi’s 25th Anniversary Baguette Show at NYFW

The Fendi baguette bag has now been honored in all its glory at New York Fashion Week. For the bag’s 25th anniversary, Fendi showcased an homage to the Fendi baguette, complete with new designs in collaboration with Marc Jacobs, Tiffany & Co., and the one who arguably put the bag on the map in her performance as Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and The City, Sarah Jessica Parker.

Venice Film Festival

Aside from the drama (onscreen and off), the Venice Film Festival has always been a monumental time for showcasing extravagantly fabulous attire, and this year is certainly no different. Here are some of our top looks from the festival:

The First Vogue World

On September 12th, Anna Wintour hosted the first “Vogue World” runway show in New York City. The show celebrated New York City as a fashion capital of the world, featuring a plethora of elaborate acts and attendees. This extravaganza showcased several designers’ creations from their fall collections and was live streamed on Vogue’s website.

Coperni’s Spray Painted Dress

Fashion history was made at Paris Fashion Week with Coperni’s sprayed-on dress with a special material that seemed to magically become a gorgeous white dress. With the beautiful Bella Hadid modeling, it became one of the most memorable fashion moments in recent years.
