Valentino Names Charli XCX as a Brand Ambassador 

Valentino is officially Brat, as they recently announced their newest celebrity face: Charli XCX. After the release of her latest album, Charli has transformed from a talented singer to a cultural icon.  In collaboration with the launch of Valentino’s new Spike Valentino Buttery Matte Lip Color, this partnership encompasses an “edgy elegance,” appealing to the alternative party-girl vibe of Charli’s fans.  

Estee Lauder announces leadership changes 

Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) reveals that the North American group President Mark Loomis will retire in June 2025. Tara Simon, the current global president of California Brands, will take over Loomis’s role as the North American president. Alongside her, Amber English, the current senior vice president for e-commerce and digital, will become the North American president for digital and online. These women have positioned themselves as powerful players within the company, with years of experience in the fashion and beauty industry before their work at ELC.

British Streetwear Designer Samuel Ross Signs Partnership with Zara

If you aren’t already familiar with Samuel Ross, let us introduce you–Ross is a streetwear designer, best known for luxury brand A-Cold-Wall, and a Virgil Abloh protegé. After selling his stake of A-Cold-Wall, Ross worked briefly on various artistic projects before launching his new luxury menswear line: SR_A. He has now signed a multi-year partnership with Zara, where he plans to curate functional but sophisticated garments that reflect maturity.

LVMH Sells Off-White Brand to Bluestar Alliance

On what would have marked the 44th birthday of Off White’s late founder, Virgil Abloh, LVMH, the conglomerate that houses Off White LLC, announced it would sell the company to Bluestar Alliance, a brand management company with labels including Bebe and Scotch & Soda. The brand’s new owner has been recognized for acquiring and licensing distressed labels, raising concerns about the changing ethos of the luxury streetwear brand, with critics claiming that the transition of ownership will bring Off-White to a lower price point. However, spokesmen from LVMH and Bluestar have positioned this deal as a means to protect the mission of the brand and continue its innovation momentum.

Mytheresa Acquires Yoox Net-a-Porter From Richemont in Equity Deal

Richemont has agreed to sell its struggling e-commerce business, Yoox Net-a-Porter (YNAP), to Mytheresa, a luxury online retailer, in a deal valued at $603 million with Richemont retaining a 33% stake in Mytheresa, which is projected to tripleMytheresa’s size overnight and have a combined sales potential of $3.29 billion. The transaction, expected to close by mid-2025, will integrate Net-a-Porter and Mr. Porter into Mytheresa's platform, enhancing its global reach in key markets like the U.S. and China. This move aims to reshape luxury e-commerce amid industry pressures, with Mytheresa leveraging its proprietary tech to drive profitable growth.

Formula 1 Announces 10–Year Partnership with LVMH

As the sport celebrates its 75th anniversary, Formula 1 has announced that LVMH will become its global partner in 2025. The acclaimed motorsport leader and luxury fashion conglomerate plans to connect the thrilling sport and elegant art, expanding the horizon of creativity and innovation.

California Governor Signs Textile Recycling Bill into Law

Recognizing the growing threat of textile pollution on the environment, the California government wants brands to pay for their waste. In late August, state legislators passed a bill that would require brands with a global turnover of more than $1 million to fund programs for collecting, recycling, and reusing their fabric and clothing waste. Most recently, Governor Gavin Newsom signed this bill into law, accelerating California’s sustainability efforts.

For those with a tendency to procrastinate, there are plenty of cool costumes you can put together at the last minute, all you need is a little makeup! Follow an easy YouTube tutorial and become a skeleton for the night, wearing an all-black outfit with silver accents. Allow yourself to be transformed through makeup–easily become a cat, punk rocker, or even mermaid with one eyeshadow pallet and a couple of brushes. Pair your fierce look with pieces already in your closet to create a perfect, low-effort Halloween costume.

A/Squared Magazine Events

Obsessed with all things fashion, culture and art? A/Squared has you covered. Established within the last year, the student-led publication not only releases curated magazines, but also hosts fashion-forward events on campus. Most recently, they partnered with One DNA, alongside Creative Blueprint and Michigan Vintage Market, to host their Fresh Finds event featuring local brands, student run companies, and hand-picked thrift finds. The organization has a ton of events in store, including a professional fashion networking gala, their print magazine launch, and even a potential collaboration with the MFMS. Stay tuned for more. 

MASHquerade

MASH Magazine- the University of Michigan’s premier fashion and business magazine- will be hosting its annual MASHquerade event on October 30th to celebrate the Magazine and bring together fashion enthusiasts across Ann Arbor.  This year's gala is in honor of the Magazines 21st birthday, so expect a night of glitz, glamor, and lots of fun.
