While my recent design experience is in the automotive industry, the design studio where I worked encouraged my passion for fashion and gave me full creative freedom in my projects. I took advantage of this and explored the intersections of automotive, fashion, and footwear—collaborating with a Detroit fashion designer to upcycle automotive leather into a dress, designing a complementary shoe concept from car materials, and studying factory production. Most notably, I discovered how production techniques in car manufacturing were originally inspired by footwear craftsmanship. This sparked a vision for carrying the legacy through another cycle of innovation - by integrating materials and sustainable practices from the automotive industry, which stands at the forefront of innovation, back into footwear design.
Drawing from my automotive experience and footwear studies at the London College of Fashion, I developed AutoX Footwear, a collection of six avant-garde shoes at an accessible price point. Designed for modern, high-income women with bold attitudes and dynamic lifestyles, the collection offers futuristic, industrial, and unconventionally sexy footwear in premium leather - perfect for nights out, exclusive dinners, and special occasions.
Ultimately, my work seeks to push the boundaries of footwear design and production by reexamining its origins. Through AutoX, I engage in a dialogue between the footwear and automotive industries, using past innovations to inspire the future of fashion.
